SparkFun Qwiic micro:bit Breakout

The BBC micro:bit is a fantastic learning tool, but its standard three alligator-clip rings can quickly limit your projects. The SparkFun Qwiic micro:bit Breakout is designed to completely expand the capabilities of your development platform. By interfacing directly with the micro:bit's edge connector, this board provides full access to advanced communication protocols such as I²C and SPI, enabling intermediate and advanced users to connect to a wider range of sensors, motors, and displays.

Plug-and-Play Prototyping

We designed this version of the breakout for makers who need complete control over their hardware setup. It comes without any headers pre-soldered to the 21 GPIO pins or power connections.

• Custom Connections: Solder your own specific connectors, utilize right-angle headers, or solder wires directly to the board for a permanent, low-profile installation.
• Full Pin Access: All 21 micro:bit GPIO pins, plus power and ground, are broken out to standard 0.1-inch spacing.

Qwiic Expandability

Even without the traditional headers, you still get immediate plug-and-play I²C functionality. The board features two pre-installed Qwiic Connectors, giving you instant access to our entire ecosystem of daisy-chainable devices. Please note that the BBC micro:bit itself is not included with this bare breakout and must be purchased separately.
