SparkFun Qwiic LED Stick - APA102C

Add individually addressable lighting to your projects without the wiring hassle. The SparkFun Qwiic LED Stick features ten addressable APA102 LEDs, letting you create custom visual displays with simple I²C commands. This breakout gives you complete control over each individual LED to suit your exact needs when programming dynamic lighting effects.

Easy I²C Communication

Adding custom lighting to a project often means sacrificing microcontroller pins and writing complex timing code. This board solves that with an onboard ATtiny85 microcontroller to manage the APA102 LEDs over a standard I²C connection. We've written both an Arduino library and Python package that handle all the background communication logic. That way, you won't have to fight with all of the timing and protocol intricacies. The only thing you need to worry about is what color each individual LED should be!

Expandable Hardware

To ensure this LED stick fits into larger builds, it features a hardware layout that was designed to be built around and incorporated into easily:

• Solderless Connections: Dual Qwiic connectors let you plug directly into your system without figuring out SDA/SCL routing, voltage regulation, or logic translation.
• Hardware Override: A convenient solder jumper on the back of the board lets you quickly hardwire the I²C address to 0x22 if you prefer a physical adjustment.
• Expandable Output: You can easily add more standard LEDs to the end of the strip if your project outgrows the initial 10 pixels.

While the Qwiic LED Stick's default I²C address is 0x23, you can change it with some simple software commands. This lets you daisy-chain up to 10 sticks on a single bus, giving you control over 100 LEDs simultaneously!
